Flare Magazine’s party and private viewing for “Letters to Haiti”
Flare Magazine hosted a party and a private viewing of “Letters to Haiti” by James Conran. The event was filled with VIP’s and fashion insiders. Outside of the viewing room they had pictures from the trip to Haiti to raise money for the great cause. Coco hosted this great evening and the response from everyone after viewing this movie was outstanding. It is a very moving documentary that really makes you want to do something to help. Coco Rocha and James Conran this was a great idea and so amazing of you both to take on. Thank you Flare magazine and Liza Tant for hosting such a marvelous event.

The Shows (Day1)
Coco Rocha came on the runway to tell a little bit about “The Shows”, and how the event will help each season to bring amazing talent back to Toronto. Coco said “Sometimes it is hard for designers to show outside of their country or even city because the cost to put on a runway show is quite expensive”. Paola Fullerton Inc. has come together with P&G to put this great event on holding two days of shows every season now.
Thomas Tait S/S
Coco Rocha introduces Thomas Tait, 24 his collection was very interesting and something we don’t really see in Toronto but had a great European vibe to the collection. These pieces are not very ready to wear with pale colors, over-sized coats and a masculine to feminine vibe as the show went on. So check out this video clip I did and have a look what Thomas Tait is all about.
Coco Rocha Presents the world premiere of a James Conran Film “Letters to Haiti” Documentary
“Despite our success with fundraising events in New York, I still felt very distant and disconnected from the people and the children I was trying to help. What I really wanted was to actually see the children of Haiti… As I started gathering the toys I wanted to give to the children, I thought about what they really needed. It occurred to me that many of the orphans had lost so many people in their lives that what they probably needed most was the love of another human being. I decided to create a pen pal program to deliver these children messages of hope and love from other kids. I put the word out on my blog and letters immediately started flooding in from every corner of the globe. ” - Coco Rocha
I had the Privilege of attending “Letters to Haiti” Premiere during The Shows in Toronto. I found it very moving and it made me want to help. Coco has been trying to help raise money for Lakay Pam a non-profit organization that helps to provide shelter, food, medical care and education to orphans and other children in Haiti. She felt this was not enough so she and her husband James Conran came up with this great idea. So they got children to write pen pal letters from all over and they would bring them to the children of Haiti. Coco spent endless hours translating all the letters to French because this is the language most used there. They headed over to Haiti with the letters, candy and some toys filling the children with joy. In the documentary Coco was mentioning about how she and her husband gave a boy a bottle of water and another child ran up begging for some. At this point you really see how the simplest things to us are so needed in other countries. Make sure to keep an eye out for this amazing Documentary and check it out. www.lakaypam.org
Calla S/S
What a great splash to the end of day one. Canadian Designer Calla Haynes collection was very gorgeous, fresh and really pulled you in to feel the spring and summer season. Lots of yellows, pinks and pastels with great tie die and floral pattern piece’s that flowed well but still giving the women’s shape with the great drapery. The collection was very timeless and ready to wear. I really enjoyed the show and this fantastic collection.
