Last week, Philip Sparks invited media to preview his new line of accessories for both sexes. The collection is made up of a wide range of belts, bags, loafers, dock shoes and great two-tone brogues. The collection was right up Philip’s Tailored Goods alley , with great bright spring reds, yellows and blues. I’m in love with this laptop bag made of canvas and well-detailed vegetable dyed leather. This bag, along with everything else in this collection, will be a great hot item for Spring/Summer 2013!
I really enjoyed the colors and well-detailed tailoring that always goes into his collections. Make sure to get into the Philip Sparks store (162 Ossington Ave., Toronto, ON) now to pick up some great items and make sure to watch out for this collection this Spring/Summer 2013 season.
Make sure to get out and shop Thursday Sept 6th

Thomas Sabo jewelry launched two new collections; Sweet Diamonds and Sterling silver GLAM&SOUL fall/winter 2012. The Media and local personalities were invited to attend an evening of cocktails and preview these 2 new collections by Faulhaber PR at Trump Tower. The room was set up so beautifully and to go with the theme it had matching cocktails and very sparkly treats.
“Sweet Diamonds signals the entry of the brand into the ‘genuine’ jewellery segment,” Edwards told Jeweller. “Developing the existing target group, this collection will also see expansion to new target groups, who are interested in ‘genuine’ materials. Sweet Diamonds is an extremely affordable luxury range and is priced from $100 to $300 and will be available from jewelers nationally late August.”
Thomas Sabo (German Brand) has always been a favorite of mine, with great pieces for men and women. Sweet diamonds is the fourth collection by The Thomas Sabo brand. This brand is well known for their sterling sliver, personalized charm bracelets and great watch collections.

A couple weeks ago I attended Whitney Linens showroom launch. I have worked with Whitney Westwood creator of Whitney Linen on various occasions on the launch and sales of her line. Her pieces have an amazing array of colour and are really great for summer or traveling.
“The launch of Whitney Linen is inspired by European elegance and style, It is comprised of a 15-pieace women’s collection with a selection of men’s line and luxurious home décor pieces including be spoke table linens in an array of colours all detailed with the signature WL monogram finish” Said Whitney
Her pieces are really fashionable and I really love how many different colours she has used. To check her stuff out for retail or interested in buying you can email Whitney Westwood at email@example.com and check out the launch of the showroom below
“Linen is an eco-friendly material free of petro-chemical components. A breathable body-cooling fabric, ideal for extreme climates, flax is the strongest natural fiber. Many cultures pass heirloom pieces down from generation to generation. For centuries linen has been a wardrobe staple embraced by European culture. “I have spent much time in Europe and have watched elegant men and women, dressed in linen, walking the cobbled streets of France and Italy. They look so chic.”, Whitney says describing her attraction to the raw fiber.”
OMG, the closing ceremonies are always one of my favorites to watch!! This year my two favorite highlights of the event were the Spice Girls and Supermodels. The Spice Girls opened with “Spice up Your life”, and looked smoking hot and really fantastic! Every move they made and every time they sang, everyone in the audience was in awe and swaying back and forth to their tunes. Their Fashion and looks have come a long way since the 90’s and have become top notch. They are still pretty great and amazing and absolutely fun to watch when they all get together and sing away.
I think the show grabber, well for me anyways was when British Fashion and super models took center stage and ruled the runway. Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss Strutted down the cat walk in gold dresses like goddesses. All the Designers creations and Supermodels will be featured in September’s Vogue UK. Midas Touch, as what the creation was called had some of British top designers Alexander McQueen/ Vivienne Westwood, Burberry, Christopher Kane and rising up new designer Victoria Beckham. U.K. beauties Georgia May Jagger, Karen Elson, Stella Tennant, Lily Cole, Lily Donaldson, and Jourdan Dunn were amongst the spectacle show and even David Gandy wearing Paul Smith. Check out these amazing shots from the up-coming September issue of Vogue UK and enjoy.
Make sure to get your tickets as Designers Closet is this weekend and not to be missed.

Loblaws and its Joe Fresh brand which was created by Joe Mimram are making a big retail jump into the United States market. “It’s going to be exciting. It’s bold. It’s aggressive,” said Joe Mimran(founder of Joe Fresh), of the partnership with J.C. Penney’s. “I buy into the vision — the wider aisles, the self-checkout, the cafe, the juice bar, the seating arrangements, the room being offered to the brands and the fact that each brand can have its own voice.” Loblaws said they will roll out 700 new Joe Fresh stores next spring to be opened in J.C. Penny stores.
“We are moving from being a promotional department store toward a unique classification — the first-ever ‘specialty’ department store. It’s entirely organized by specialty shops and 100 percent staffed by specialists who are experts in products,” J.C. Penney’s chairman and CEO Ron Johnson said. Joe Fresh has quickly become, with its 300 and 12 standalone stores, one of the top ranked clothing brands in Canada.

It was official announced today that Robin Kay, President of Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC) also creator and Executive Director of World MasterCard Fashion Week has sold Toronto Fashion week to IMG Canada. IMG Canada will be operating with IMG Fashion to make Fashion week better than it ever was. With their international success it will be nice to see how they will elevate this event. Robin Kay will remain president of the FDCC and continue to support Canadian designers and consultant with the event.
“Creating Fashion Week in Toronto was a career dream for me as I was able to translate my skills as a designer and retailer into a celebration of Canadian fashion that has supported so many talented people to find an audience and a global runway. In business, timing is everything, and I am confident that the time is right for IMG to take World MasterCard Fashion Week to the next level,” said Robin Kay. “I have no plans to disappear and I will remain committed to helping and nurturing Canadian designers shine on the catwalk.”
“I’ve worked with Robin for eight years on Fashion Week and it truly couldn’t have been done without her energy, vision and support,” said Joe Mimran, founder and creative director of Joe Fresh Style and chairman of the Fashion Design Council of Canada Board of Directors. “I look forward to seeing Fashion Week evolve and grow as it leverages IMG’s global infrastructure and expertise.”
I think this is just the change that World MasterCard Fashion Week needed to bump up this event more internationally since it is the second largest fashion week in North America.
Im so excited for this cover, I think it is going to be one of my favorites! Check out whats going on Twitter.

When Fashion week rolled a around this year I was greatly excited to see what my two favorite designers had been up too. We walked into the newly revamped Acadian Loft, greeting us at the door was some Stoli cocktail. So many celebrities like Sarah Gadon, Leesa Butler Zaib Skaikh (from little Mosk on the Parries) Gabrielle Miller and Tara Spencer Nainn from Corner gas. The lovely Jeanne beker of Fashion Television and you can’t forget the 3 tall dark glasses of water Jully black, Rosey Edeh, Suzane Boyed.
As the show started and the models came out looking like a sci-fi themed looking like Aliens which was the theme of the whole show. The curtains all opened bringing the sky line and light in which made it more magical or a little more sci-fi.
The colours coming down the runway were so vibrant like Greens, Blues and reds. Its edgy elegance, signature silk jersey fluidly draped dresses, very sexy and sleekly. The show ended in over 20 amazing black tailored pieces and dresses. The evening was amazing as I stayed back very late and danced my ass off with the many people that decided to stay back it was a great time!

Founded in 1898, Rimowa since then has transformed itself into classic, fashionable and modern metal cases. With their cute slogan “Every case tells a story” inside out these amazing cases are incredible at how well the compartments inside pack so well.
Desia from Brill Communications showed us at the preview one of her own Rimowa cases that she uses and showed us everything that she can pack for her trip and have space for all she needed on the trip, but the amazing part is it was her carry on piece and she was able to fit everything in so well!
All are manufactured in Europe. Rimowa became the first company to produce luggage from structural aluminum; now with that, amazing wheels that turn every way, light weight cases for the heavy packer and the case won’t break. Count me in because I’m sold and want to get these amazing new products.
A little while ago I attended a preview for ECCO thanks to Brill Commutations. The previews are always in the beginning of summer and sometimes I like to save these posts to the time the collections are getting ready to go on the shelves. For its 10th Anniversary, HUDSON has chosen to celebrate the essence and spirit of Cabaret in their Fall 2012 advertising campaign. Shooting the campaign in Paris, the birthplace of Cabaret, HUDSON Jeans embraces the spirit of a place to exercise individuality; where onlookers could go against the rules of society without judgment or worry. The “HUDSON CABARET” captures the brand’s mission in print and on film, and 10 years of creating a community where every citizen is a connoisseur of life, moving forward fearlessly with passion and purpose – living life to the edge.
Beginning with a teaser video in early July, the HUDSON Cabaret will feature 4 video releases showcasing four statement styles of denim to be launched with our Canadian retails partners and activation on a global scale. A print advertisement will accompany each video release and retail activation. Our national Canadian retail partner is Holt Renfrew among other high-end denim boutiques.
Following the teaser video, the first style launch will be around the LEELOO, a color blocked jean animated in a fast paced modern day dance. In August, hip-hop artist/beat-boxer TEZ will introduce the “Juliette” skinny jean, of which the ankle zippers will serve as the musical accompaniment of choice layered over his compelling beats made entirely with his mouth. For the third style, the New York electronic dream pop band, Au Revoir Simone, will help Georgia May Jagger pay a poetic tribute to the beauty of the campaign collection’s “Art Deco” styles. The “Art Deco” styles, inspired by Faberge eggs, patterned wall paper and diamond bracelets, will launch across Canada in September.
Finally HUDSON will launch the “10th Anniversary” bundle with French duet, Daphne Burki and Gunther Love, and Georgia May Jagger. Daphne is a famous TV personality in France and he’s a reigning world champion of ”Air Guitar”. They pay tribute to the 10th birthday of the brand with a comedic battle in song. Directly commemorating the brand’s tenth anniversary, the package of 4 styles will include the “Abstract Flag” printed skinny – a meld of the Union Jack and American flag paying homage to the brand’s “Born in California” but “Rooted in London” DNA. Lucian Matis opened Fall/Winter 2012 Fashion week off site at the Fairmount Royal York hotel. As guests arrived they were treated to champagne while they waited for the magical doors to open and we would all be seated. While we were taking our seats I noticed that the atmosphere was high in energy because everyone knew something amazing was about to start. The show was set up to such a large scale it reminded me of Marchesa, the first show I attended years ago. The doors opened on our left, amazing music blaring from the speakers and Lucian’s brilliant work started strutting down the catwalk. He started off with a theme that carried off in the week with Bird feathers. Other designers had tried pulling it off but not as well as Lucian!
“The lines in nature can travel, swirl and conjoin. These natural patterns are nature’s expression and purpose,” explained Matis.,”My designs have adapted and evolved through colors and shapes; the grace in movement which this planet and nature must play out from minute to minute, birth to death and, most importantly, the beauty in attraction.”
This collection by far was the best work I have seen Matis put down the runway, also better than most of Fashion week as well. All black attire dripping with amazing hand woven detail and feathers, there was something for every woman and all kinds of different occasions. Lots of great stuff that I would use for my clients for Red carpets, Balls etc.… I styled one of my clients Gabrielle Miller in Lucian Matis and brought her to the show she looked dashing and even ended up in the Toronto Sun. (See below) Lucian is a Toronto based designer international known for his amazing work after he appeared on the design show Project Runway Canada.
RED DRESS 2012
This was my third year covering The Heart Truth Fashion show (2010,2011) this is always an amazing event that brought together Celebrity power and Canadian Designers to raise awareness for this great cause. The Heart Truth! The Heart and Stroke Foundation started this event many years ago to raise awareness for Heart Disease and strokes, since it is the number one disease that affects women in Canada.
It was an amazing night with Jully Black shaking her booty to all the Cameras. Then having the lead singer from Kiss, Gene Simmons and his wife Shannon Tween head lining the event it made for a great night to raise awareness for a great cause.

When I was approached by Ottawa Fashion week organizers to help put together the Celebrity charity show, which was so close to their fashion weekend I had my doubts. Being from Ottawa I knew their reputation about them being unorganized and not having the greatest reputation in the Canadian fashion industry from the past. I decided to do it anyway because it was for a great cause. After I began I realized that my concerns were correct because of all the problems I had with their team; then the show ended up being amazing and they raised money for UNICEF so I was content!
I enjoyed bringing all my friends and it was great that some amazing designers and jewelry designers agreed to help me at the last minute, It was a relief that I had so much help.
I really want to thank all my friends that walked, Leesa Butler, Gabrielle Miller, Rosey Edeh, Casie Stewart, Gail McInnes, Tre Armstrong, Erica Wark, the new people I met Solange Tuyishime, Elisabeth Manley, Leanne Lang,TL Radar, and a big shout to me good friend Cory Lee for being so amazing for walking and singing for this great cause.
Also big thank you to a MM Crystal Michelle Merizzi for coming down doing the jewelry and always supporting me with everything I do since the beginning. I also can’t forget the designers that helped me out last minute Rachel Sin, DeMOYO, Turbine,Sukhoo Sukhoo Thank you Thank you. It was such a great experience to be on the other side helping put together such a big show which gave me such a great experience and I wish Ottawa Fashion week the best as I will no longer be supporting!
This collection was showcased last Thursday at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. The Fall/Winter 2012 line has great colour blocking and an eclectic mix. Prim pleats and fur detail which was great to see this season, also it was good to see that they have gotten away from the black and grey by adding more detail and great colour. This collection has a very innovative approach to Fall/Winter 2012.

On day Three of Montreal Fashion Week Samuel Dong presented us with his magical collection. His creative cuts, and the blending of rich colour and fabric in opulent red, midnight blue, green, gold and silver. It was a night filled with beauty and exceptional sassiness. This fantasy collection brought the whole runway into an enchanting and wonderful place.

Eve Gravel label is inspired by her travels, music and street fashion. Her designs are feminine as much as they are tomboyish, but things she would wear in her day to day life. This collection was very chic with a great outdoor look. It was very ready to wear with great patterns, blacks, knits and fur accents. The designs went from over-sized coats to casual pieces and it had a very cool, feminine, and sexy look about it. Also the great added bonuses that Eve Gravel included were the marvelous accessories and hats which was the big topic for most of the women after the show.

In February of 2005 Annie Chagon and Amelie Gingras-Rioux founded their company. The Label holds up to its name Annie 50, which is inspired by a simpler era gone by, the fifties. The Fall/Winter 2012 collection has a very pin-up style look to its pieces, it included a lot of knits, weeds, and satins. The great blends of Navy, dusty rose, and teal helped show off their great structure and detail, which was showcased in this collection. The Fall/Winter 2012 line also included great floral patterns, great detail and that wonderful pin-up style with that unique 1950s edge.

The husband and wife team of Danielle Martin and Pao Lim have proved themselves on the international level. Their successful win last season of the Cross Canada Mercedes Benz start-up has left me very curious to see what they had in store this season.
Their collection showed Femininity, graphic art and the ever changing style of women. With colours ranging from pink, black and whites showcasing girlish figures strutting down the runway. There was a lot of silk from pieces changing from pants to dress suits and evening gowns. This collection was not your everyday women’s wear but something for the woman that lives a little or as I like to say “I’m living on the edge”.
“My idea behind the collaboration was to design for the Topshop girl a range that is as close to the aesthetic of my mainline as possible, with great control over the quality of design and production,” said Katrantzou. “I can’t wait to see the Topshop girls in the bowl dresses and for the most daring to see them try the print on print layering!”
The 10-piece collection features dresses and separates in the British designer’s signature vibrant prints. The designs are very close to the aesthetic of her eponymous line. The collection launches in Topshop stores on February 17.
