Interview with Peter Bergman (aka Jack Abbott, The Young and the Restless)

Last year, I had the pleasure of interviewing Victor Newman (played by Eric Braeden) with Kevin from All Access with Kevin. This year at the National Women’s Show, I got to interview his arch nemesis, Jack Abbott (played by Peter Bergman). I must admit, I wasn’t as excited as I was when I got to meet “the moustache” but I was pleasantly surprised with Peter’s charisma.

Sabrina: How do you like Toronto?

Peter: I love Toronto; it is a “YandR Mecca” – more devoted YandR fans here than any other city, over Boston, Chicago or New York City. All the cast members love coming to Toronto. When I checked into my hotel last night, 3 guys came up to me to say “Hi Jack!” and before I even said a word the front desk, they asked if my room was under “Jack Abbott” or “Peter Bergman”…

Enough small talk, we were on a time crunch so I dove right in:

Sabrina: Over the years, has Jack Abbott become more Peter Bergman or has Peter become more Jack?

Peter: Jack has picked up more on Peter. My wife did call me out one day when I called someone “sweetheart”…

Apparently sweetheart and darling are Jack Abbott terms of endearment.

Sabrina: Similarities and differences between Jack and Peter?

Peter: Similarities are that both are fiercely loyal to family, quick to judge, strong opinions and like red-heads. Difference is that

Jack is quicker on the trigger, more impulsive.

Sabrina: What are the 3 things that you MUST have in your dressing room?

Peter: Dictionary, TV and Telephone

Sabrina: If you hadn’t become an actor, what would have been your alternative career path?

Peter: (without hesitation) Architect. Toronto has such great architecture and I love the blend of old and new.  I can open my hotel room blinds and name which top architects designed the buildings in my view.

Surprised me a little, I always viewed the Toronto cityscape as a bunch of glass boxes. Always nice to hear a non-Torontonian say great things about your city.

Sabrina: Did you fall into soap operas or did you seek them out?

Peter: Stumbled into it at the age of 26. I was a stage actor to begin with and I almost didn’t go to my audition for All My Children. I had three auditions that day, one for a commercial and one for a theatre production. Both went terribly! Then my agent, who never followed up with me, reminded me not to worry as I had a 3rd audition that day for All My Children.

Sabrina: What is a common misconception about the show (YandR)?

Peter: What you don’t get to see is that Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) are the funniest people you will ever meet. Another misconception is that the bed scenes are sexy. They are far from it! It’s uncomfortable because there’s a whole room of people watching and you’re with someone you’ve worked with for years. So you don’t want them to ever think you’re taking advantage of the situation. Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Newman) once asked me “Did you just look at my breasts?!”

He did say Peter and Jack both like redheads…

Sabrina: Okay, Peter, Rapid Fire Round. Say the first thing that comes to your mind:

Q1: How many wives has Jack had?

Peter: 6

As a side note: Eric (Victor) couldn’t answer this one last year…

Q2: Closest friend on the set?

Peter: Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Newman)

Q3: Favourite suit designer?

Peter: Armani

Hmm… Victor and Jack both not only hold a candle for Nikki but share the same fashion sense.

Q4: Favourite vacation spot?

Peter: New York City

Q5: Drink of choice?

Peter: Vodka on the rocks with a twist.

Q6: TV/Movie character you secretly wish you could have played?

Peter: Hubbell Gardner from The Way We Were.

I had to Google that one, before my time… it’s a Robert Redford movie from 1973.

Q7: Are you on Twitter/Facebook?

Peter: No. And I don’t plan to be.

And then we wrapped up, got my obligatory fan girl picture with Jack Abbott, the new power mogul on the Young and the Restless. (You know, until Victor rebuilds his company and the ranch and makes his big comeback…)

Closing Olympics Ceremony

OMG, the closing ceremonies are always one of my favorites to watch!! This year my two favorite highlights of the event were the Spice Girls and Supermodels. The Spice Girls opened with “Spice up Your life”, and looked smoking hot and really fantastic! Every move they made and every time they sang, everyone in the audience was in awe and swaying back and forth to their tunes. Their Fashion and looks have come a long way since the 90’s and have become top notch. They are still pretty great and amazing and absolutely fun to watch when they all get together and sing away.

I think the show grabber, well for me anyways was when British Fashion and super models took center stage and ruled the runway. Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss Strutted down the cat walk in gold dresses like goddesses.  All the Designers creations and Supermodels will be featured in September’s Vogue UK.  Midas Touch, as what the creation was called had some of British top designers Alexander McQueen/ Vivienne Westwood, Burberry, Christopher Kane and rising up new designer Victoria Beckham. U.K. beauties Georgia May Jagger, Karen Elson, Stella Tennant, Lily Cole, Lily Donaldson, and Jourdan Dunn were amongst the spectacle show and even David Gandy wearing Paul Smith. Check out these amazing shots from the up-coming September issue of Vogue UK and enjoy.

Greta Constantine Fall/Winter 2012

When Fashion week rolled a around this year I was greatly excited to see what my two favorite designers had been up too.   We walked into the newly revamped Acadian Loft, greeting us at the door was some Stoli cocktail. So many celebrities like Sarah Gadon, Leesa Butler Zaib Skaikh (from little Mosk on the Parries) Gabrielle Miller and Tara Spencer Nainn from Corner gas. The lovely Jeanne beker of Fashion Television and you can’t forget the 3 tall dark glasses of water Jully black, Rosey Edeh, Suzane Boyed.

As the show started and the models came out looking like a sci-fi themed looking like Aliens which was the theme of the whole show. The curtains all opened bringing the sky line and light in which made it more magical or a little more sci-fi.

Check out photos here

The colours coming down the runway were so vibrant like Greens, Blues and reds. Its edgy elegance, signature silk jersey fluidly draped dresses, very sexy and sleekly. The show ended in over 20 amazing black tailored pieces and dresses. The evening was amazing as I stayed back very late and danced my ass off with the many people that decided to stay back it was a great time!

HUDSON Jeans:Ten-year anniversary campaign starring Georgia May Jagger

For its 10th Anniversary, HUDSON has chosen to celebrate the essence and spirit of Cabaret in their Fall 2012 advertising campaign. Shooting the campaign in Paris, the birthplace of Cabaret, HUDSON Jeans embraces the spirit of a place to exercise individuality; where onlookers could go against the rules of society without judgment or worry. The “HUDSON CABARET” captures the brand’s mission in print and on film, and 10 years of creating a community where every citizen is a connoisseur of life, moving forward fearlessly with passion and purpose – living life to the edge.

Beginning with a teaser video in early July, the HUDSON Cabaret will feature 4 video releases showcasing four statement styles of denim to be launched with our Canadian retails partners and activation on a global scale. A print advertisement will accompany each video release and retail activation. Our national Canadian retail partner is Holt Renfrew among other high-end denim boutiques.

Following the teaser video, the first style launch will be around the LEELOO, a color blocked jean animated in a fast paced modern day dance. In August, hip-hop artist/beat-boxer TEZ will introduce the “Juliette” skinny jean, of which the ankle zippers will serve as the musical accompaniment of choice layered over his compelling beats made entirely with his mouth.  For the third style, the New York electronic dream pop band, Au Revoir Simone, will help Georgia May Jagger pay a poetic tribute to the beauty of the campaign collection’s “Art Deco” styles. The “Art Deco” styles, inspired by Faberge eggs, patterned wall paper and diamond bracelets, will launch across Canada in September.

Finally HUDSON will launch the “10th Anniversary” bundle with French duet, Daphne Burki and Gunther Love, and Georgia May Jagger.  Daphne is a famous TV personality in France and he’s a reigning world champion of ”Air Guitar”. They pay tribute to the 10th birthday of the brand with a comedic battle in song.  Directly commemorating the brand’s tenth anniversary, the package of 4 styles will include the “Abstract Flag” printed skinny – a meld of the Union Jack and American flag paying homage to the brand’s “Born in California” but “Rooted in London” DNA. Lucian Matis Fall/Winter 2012

Lucian Matis opened Fall/Winter 2012 Fashion week off site at the Fairmount Royal York hotel. As guests arrived they were treated to champagne while they waited for the magical doors to open and we would all be seated. While we were taking our seats I noticed that the atmosphere was high in energy because everyone knew something amazing was about to start. The show was set up to such a large scale it reminded me of Marchesa, the first show I attended years ago. The doors opened on our left, amazing music blaring from the speakers and Lucian’s brilliant work started strutting down the catwalk. He started off with a theme that carried off in the week with Bird feathers. Other designers had tried pulling it off but not as well as Lucian!

“The lines in nature can travel, swirl and conjoin. These natural patterns are nature’s expression and purpose,” explained Matis.,”My designs have adapted and evolved through colors and shapes; the grace in movement which this planet and nature must play out from minute to minute, birth to death and, most importantly, the beauty in attraction.”

Photos press here

This collection by far was the best work I have seen Matis put down the runway, also better than most of Fashion week as well. All black attire dripping with amazing hand woven detail and feathers, there was something for every woman and all kinds of different occasions. Lots of great stuff that I would use for my clients for Red carpets, Balls etc.… I styled one of my clients Gabrielle Miller in Lucian Matis and brought her to the show she looked dashing and even ended up in the Toronto Sun. (See below) Lucian is a Toronto based designer international known for his amazing work after he appeared on the design show Project Runway Canada.

Ottawa Fashion Week F/W 2012 Unicef Celebrity Charity show

When I was approached by Ottawa Fashion week organizers to help put together the Celebrity charity show, which was so close to their fashion weekend I had my doubts. Being from Ottawa I knew their reputation about them being unorganized and not having the greatest reputation in the Canadian fashion industry from the past. I decided to do it anyway because it was for a great cause.  After I began I realized that my concerns were correct because of all the problems I had with their team; then the show ended up being amazing and they raised money for UNICEF so I was content!

I enjoyed bringing all my friends and it was great that some amazing designers and jewelry designers agreed to help me at the last minute, It was a relief that I had so much help.

I really want to thank all my friends that walked, Leesa Butler, Gabrielle Miller, Rosey Edeh, Casie Stewart, Gail McInnes, Tre Armstrong, Erica Wark, the new people I met Solange Tuyishime, Elisabeth Manley, Leanne Lang,TL Radar, and a big shout to me good friend Cory Lee for being so amazing for walking and singing for this great cause.

Also big thank you to a MM Crystal Michelle Merizzi for coming down doing the jewelry and always supporting me with everything I do since the beginning. I also can’t forget the designers that helped me out last minute Rachel Sin, DeMOYO, Turbine,Sukhoo Sukhoo Thank you Thank you. It was such a great experience to be on the other side helping put together such a big show which gave me such a great experience and I wish Ottawa Fashion week the best as I will no longer be supporting!

Absolute Mode

Absolute Vodka launched its 2011 limited-edition bottle of Absolute Mode on Dec 1st, 2011. The launch was held at Malaparte (TIFF Bell Lightbox), a museum like exhibit featuring personal accessories and unique one of kind clothing from Canadian style icons. Some of the Icons who had clothing on display were Bernadette Morra, Liza Tant, Stacy Kimel and of course Jeanne Beker who curated the evening. Jeanne’s contributions included a vintage Chanel Dress given to her by Karl Lagerfeld. She even had a cocktail named after her that evening that was called Absolute Jeanne which was quiet yummy! The most memorable piece of the evening was a dress and jacket pairing in dark blue velvet with golden beading made for Stacy Kimel by Lee McQueen, which she wore at his funeral.  There was also the program from his funeral displayed at the foot of the mannequin. The event went past the 9pm ending time with amazing beats from the DJ and enjoyable cocktails which made this mixer with the Toronto Fashion Elite all the more worthwhile.

Grace Kelly Exhibit at the Bell Light box

“My father had a very simple view of life: you don’t get anything for nothing. Everything has to be earned, through work, persistence and honesty. My father also had a deep charm, the gift of winning our trust. He was the kind of man with whom many people dream of spending an evening.”

– Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly was born November 12, 1929 and became one of Americas leading actresses turned princess. She won an Academy Award for her outstanding performance in ‘The Country Girl”. Grace Kelly went on to marry Rainier III, Prince of Monaco in April 1956 and became Princess of Monaco but was most commonly known as Princess Grace. Sadly she died in September 14, 1982 after she lost control of her car when she suffered a stroke. Her daughter, who was in the car, survived the accident but we lost Princess Grace. I have always been fascinated by Grace Kelly’s life and have read, and watched everything I could about her and one my favourite movies has to be ‘To Catch a Thief”. So when I heard the Grace Kelly Exhibit was coming to the TIFF Bell Lightbox I was tickled pink with happiness. I had to work the night of the launch and sadly missed meeting Prince Albert.  I have since seen the exhibit and truly enjoyed every minute of it. So make sure to get down there to see this glorious exhibit which will be there until January 4th.

“I am basically a feminist. I think that women can do anything they decide to do.”

– Grace Kelly

“The thing that made her stand out is what we call style.”

                                    -  McCall’s magazine, 1955

“I have always been close to flowers… to have complete satisfaction from flowers you must have time to spend with them. Bonds must be forged between you and them. I talk to them and they talk to me.”

Design Exchange Black and White Gala

On November 12, I attended the Design Exchange (DX) Annual Black and White Gala. This year the DX honored, Karim Rashid, Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture whose works and achievements were celebrated at the Gala.

“Design Exchange has chosen to honor these three Canadian designers for their individual and collective achievements which have propelled them to international acclaim and helped brand Canada as a design-led nation,” says Design Exchange Chairperson, Tim Gilbert. “Karim, Hani, and Lise Anne are role models for all aspiring young architects and designers, but especially to young women and newcomers to Canada.”

Karim Rashid is recognized as one of the most accomplished Industrial Designers in the world. Karim has over 3,000 projects in production in over 35 countries and his work is featured in 20 permanent museum collections. In addition to being a prolific industrial designer, Karim has participated in various design fields including interior, fashion, exhibit and urban design, and has published many successful books including I Want to Change the World (Rizzoli 2001.) Karim has been profiled in thousands of articles and was named the most famous industrial designer in the world by Time Magazine. He has received over 300 prestigious awards for his creativity and innovation in the design field.

Architects and professional partners Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture founded Asymptote Architecture (ASY), and have produced powerful and innovative architecture around the world. Projects range from experimental spatial installations and digital architecture, to some of the world’s newest iconic buildings such as the HydraPier in the Netherlands and the 85,000 sqm YAS hotel in Abu Dhabi. Hani Rashid and Couture have also explored art installation, object design and master planning. Works include master plans for the center of Prague and the Yongsan district in Seoul, Korea, as well as special edition art and design works for Knoll, Meta (London) and Phillips de Pury and Company in New York.”

The event was also the Ontario premiere of Dan Aykroyds much anticipated Crystal Head Vodka, which was delicious. After the dinner the party started a little after 8. This was my first time in the Design Exchange building and it was so great inside and they event was so well put together and the décor was amazing. The Fashion show went on with Cheryl Tiegs hosting (and she was a pleasure to meet btw). The proceeds from the Gala benefit the DX youth programs. For more information you can visit

Eric Braeden interview!! AKA Victor Newman from The Young and The Restless

A couple weeks ago Casie Stewart got the confirmation that we were covering The National Women Show’s and interview Eric Braedan AKA Victor Newman from The Young and The Restless.  This is the beginning to many things that Casie and I have planned to collaborate together on. We were so thrilled and very excited as we are avid viewers of the show.  Unfortunately Casie had to go out of town, but luckily we had Sabrina come and fill in for her during the interview. It went so well and it was such a pleasure to meet and interview Eric, his interesting life and his background was very intriguing. The little Y&R secrets he told us were very enthralling too.  The Women’s Show was so impressive and fun, there was so much to see, do and buy. Don’t be fooled by the name because it is not just for women, everyone can find something here. So I would love to thank everyone involved with The Women’s Show and a big thank you to Lisa Spodek for this great opportunity. I cannot wait to cover this event again in the years to come.

xo Kevin

Q. Over the years, has Victor Newman become more Eric Braeden or have you become more Victor Newman?

A. Victor has become more Eric. I totally divide myself from the character; we go through lines so quickly I don’t remember them after a shot is done.  There are some parallels between Victor Newman and Eric Braeden: We both love competition – I don’t take any shit. Growing up with brothers, you learn to defend yourself. We are both close to family – my son and grandchildren are very important to me. The biggest difference between us is that I am not involved in the business world at all.

Q. What are your personal interests?

A. Sports are very important in my life, it’s like my therapy. I was always involved in track and field. I work out every day, once if not twice. I enjoy boxing, weight lifting and tennis.  I am also very interested in politics, history and documentaries.

Q. What are the two (became four) pivotal points/milestones in your career?

A. Rat Patrol

Mission Impossible I – where I got to quote Shakespeare and led to a role on Broadway.

    Prince of Wales

Colossus – This led to meeting James Cameron and landing a part in Titanic.

Q. Are you aware of the @VictorNewman Twitter account? Is it affiliated with CBS & Y&R?

A. No, I am not aware of this Twitter account. It has no affiliation to me or the show. We’ve had a few imposters in the past on Facebook.

Q. Are you active on Facebook or Twitter?

A. Not yet but I plan to be down in the future.

Q. What is a secret about the Y&R set that viewers would love to know?

A. How ruthlessly fast we shoot! We shoot 80 pages a day while most films do 2 or 3 days and most TV shows do 8 to 10 a day. So it requires a lot of discipline!

Q. What are two Pivotal Moments on the Y&R that made you stay on as Victor Newman?

A. When Victor’s mother came back and provided background and depth to Victor’s character and when Nikki Newman asked about his past, it showed the other side of his character.

Q. What are the 3 top things in your rider that have to be in your dressing room?

A. The New York Times

    The Die Zeit.

    Chocolate Croissants or chocolate muffin.

(He also says that he loves chocolate)

Now, it’s the Rapid Fire Round. You have to give us the first things that pops in your mind

Rapid Fire Questions:

Q. How many wives has Victor had?

A.  Don’t Know. Hah.

Q. What is your drink of choice?

A. Anejo Tequila Straight Double Shot

Q. Who is your favourite suit designer?

A. Armani

Q. What is the last movie you saw?

A. Warrior

Q. Who is your closest personal friend on the show?

A. Although the fast pace of the show leaves us little time to socialize.  Melody Scott Thomas (Nikki Newman).

This year is going to me amazing because Casie Stewart and I get to live one of our life time dreams to Interview Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) from the Young and the Restless. This is going to be an exciting Women’s convention and I can not wait.

I will be attending opening night and I am so excited. I have been working with Rock-it-Promotions for a great line up of Drag Queens attending. So if you love Elton John, Drag Queens and Ballet you really need to get tickets quick.

” The screams of appreciation started early and came often during the debut performance of Alberta Ballet’s Love Lies Bleeding. The production is clearly going to make buckets of money for the company, and frankly what’s not to like? First, there’s the music of glam-rock superstar Sir Elton John and his lyricist Bernie Taupin. The non-stop parade of razzle-dazzle costumes by Martine Bertrand rivals Las Vegas for sheer spectacle. Adam Larsen’s eye-popping projections provide the showy backdrop for the dancing (which is heavily into T and A). Beefcake abounds with an overload of men in sequined jockstraps” (

The Shows (Day 2)

Jean-Pierre Braganza’s

Wow Jean-Pierre really knows how to put a collection together; it was just out of this world. So unique from the stilettos to the fish tail braids and these impeachable pieces that fit the models frame. The way he uses geometric shapes and makes it so ready to wear but so elegant with a little edge is just wonderful and positively fantastic.

“These pieces are not for your typical lady my label is very high fashion, Avant guard and I am very inspired by sex, drugs and rock and roll but yet I always make sure in all my pieces of my collection are made to make a women look sexy” Jean-Pierre.

No wonder we have been seeing his stuff all over the internet and in magazines like Vogue. Jean-Pierre knows the women’s shape with this collection which fits the models frame so well that you can see their amazing figure and curves with great edge. This is one designer to keep an eye on and it’s a great way to start day two.

Todd Lynn

Well what can I say about Todd Lynn that we already don’t know? He is a genius when it comes to his collections; he is a favorite to all. With his rock and roll vibe in his collection you can see why he dresses people like U2-Bono, Mick Jagger, and Keith Richards. This spring/summer collection was a mix of women and men’s. Todd Lynn collaborated with Louboutin to create cage like hybrid bootees that every women in the front row wanted to get their hands on. He also collaborated with Shaun Leane to make some pin-inspired jewellery that was on some of the jackets and other pieces in the collection. The colors were very pale with grey, white and taupe, also we seen a lot of electric blues throughout. Todd Lynn is a master to what he does and we are so lucky to have a designer like that we can call Canadian.

Thank you to Desia from Brill Communication and Paola and her company Paola Fullerton Inc. for putting on such a great event.

L’Oreal Paris at TIFF 2011 – W.E. Premiere with Madonna

Check out this great video my friends Scott and Gina put together for L’Oreal Paris when Madonna came to Toronto for TIFF.

The IT Lounge

The IT lounge is always a popular stop for all the glamorous celebrities who come to TIFF. Not only for their great giveaways but for the global and local reach of its initiatives and charitable campaigns.  NKPR has started off the festival kicking off with a pop-up shop full of star worthy finds that all give back. The IT lounge has teamed up with charitable organization Artist for Peace and Justice. APJ was founded by Paul Haggis and the organization is improving the lives of Haitian children by supporting an education model that will give thousands access to schooling as well as hot meals, clean water and medical care. That isn’t all because the IT Lounge also supports needs that are close to home by teaming up with  Camp Oochigeas, where children with childhood cancer discover the magic of being a kid again and also providing them with experiences that are challenging, fun and enriching. So when I was invited by NKPR to attend media day I jumped right on it.

With the lounge having so many great brands like Fila, RW&CO., Stila Cosmetics, Ardell Lashes,Coccinelle, Simply You Jewellery, Kobo, Goody, G.M. Collin skin care, House of Marley, Stratusphere Living, ConScent, SKYY Vodka, Baker Street, and FIJI Water. Natasha Koifman said  ”this is going to be our greatest and best year. Also we are supporting some great charities this year”. Seems to be a crazy year for TIFF for everyone, the IT lounge will be gifting celebrities from the 8th to the 18th. Thank you for the invite and hope you raise a lot of money for the charities.

The first couple days of Toronto International Film Festival have been amazing. I have met so many great people and have had some amazing conversations. It was great to catch up with Matt Dusk and to see Russel Peters in the Tastemakers Lounge and laughed my ass off. Mary Murphy was a hoot, her laugh was so loud and she was just a pleasure to meet. While I was over at the Ritz-Carlton hotel I got to meet Brad Pitt which knocked my socks off. I tried to get a great picture of him but he was so busy chatting with everyone. Well these first couple days of TIFF have been great and I can not wait to see who I will see next. Watch out for more great TIFF post coming.

2011 Gemini awards!!

Last night the Del Monaco Hair studio team (official hair team for the Gemini awards) and I were behind the scene at the awards. It was such a great evening with a lot of great talent. I loved meeting Russell Peters, he was so great and he was all about jokes and laughter. My girl Deborah Cox gave a great performance with Kellylee Evans for the opening number.  We had a great time talking after her performance and she was just beaming with beauty. It was so funny meeting Tom Green while he was doing his Cheese lounge, an online show streaming during the awards. The awards were great and everyone was so pleasant, but my Favorite part of the evening was meeting Jason Priestley because he was my favorite in the original 90210 when I was younger. So Check out the pictures below and enjoy.
